I MISS My Lens!

Well, it's been a week and a half since I sent my favorite lens (300mm f/4 L IS) out to Canon to be repaired after we both took that accidental dip in the creek. Like I posted in my comments, It's like having a child away at summer camp: You know s/he is in good hands and will be back soon, but you REALLY miss him/her. Despite having 4 other lenses at my disposal, which I have been using, I have been going through withdrawals for some "long shots". The good news is that I heard from Canon today and the repairs are not nearly as expensive as I had anticipated!! I think I'll have my baby back late next week or early the following week. YAHOOOO!!! Here are a few shots I took with the 300mm over this spring and summer.
A female rose-breasted grosbeak off our deck.
A song sparrow down by the creek.
A northern flicker at Presque Isle.
Momma and baby killdeer at Presque Isle.
As for the eagles on the creek, I will be starting a new blog dedicated to the chronicling of that adventure. I'll let you know when it is up and running (or should that be "up and flying!")?

Very nice photos of the bird. Will be excited to read your new blog about the eagles.

All the photos were great, but the Killdeer took my breath. We have these nest in the neighbors and our yard usually for a total of 3 or 4 times each year. I dutifully watch the eggs and then I go out that about the time the babies should be hatching and they are GONE! Happens everytime. Can't think of the word (don't have my books w/me), but it explains it in there. How did you get the baby? How long did it hang around?

Hey Michele can you believe it I saw my first killdeer the other day. You most likely got your lens back by now. Let me know when you go again to see the eagles ok.
